Checklist: 20 things before launching your website
Go over this before publishing and avoid the mistakes that lose clients.
1. Strategy and goal
- You're clear on the website's goal (sell, capture leads, bookings, inform).
- You know who you're targeting and what action you want the visitor to take.
- Every page has a visible call to action (call, write, buy).
2. Design and content
- The main message is understood in under 5 seconds on arrival.
- The copy talks about benefits for the client, not just about you.
- There's social proof: testimonials, reviews or real cases with results.
- The images are your own or high quality, not obvious generic stock.
- It looks perfect on mobile (where most traffic comes from).
3. Local SEO (so you get found in Málaga)
- Every page has a unique title and meta description including your city.
- You use the words your client searches ("plumber in Málaga", not "water solutions").
- You have a linked Google Business Profile with the same address/phone as on the website.
- URLs are clean and descriptive (/services/renovations-malaga).
- You added structured data (local business, reviews, FAQ).
4. Performance and technical
- The website loads in under 2.5 seconds (measure with PageSpeed Insights).
- Images are optimised (WebP format and appropriate size).
- You have an active SSL certificate (https padlock).
- You set up the sitemap.xml and robots.txt.
5. Legal (mandatory in Spain)
- Legal notice, privacy policy and cookie policy published.
- GDPR-compliant cookie banner before loading analytics.
- Forms inform about data processing and request consent.
6. After launching
- You connected Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
- You tested all the forms and that emails arrive.
- You have a backup and a maintenance plan.
